Yunnan Moonlight White (also known as "Moonlight Beauty") is a type of white tea, primarily produced in the Simao region of Yunnan. The tea is named "Moonlight White" because its leaves are white on top and black underneath, resembling moonlight shining on the tea. It is a unique tea within the Pu-erh category.
The tea is tied to a beautiful legend from the Bulang people. The story is about Princess Nanfanlai, the seventh daughter of King Mengmeng from the Kingdom of Jinghong. She was known for her beauty, kindness, hard work, and bravery, symbolizing the elegance and wisdom of the Tai people of the valley. In an effort to bring peace and friendship between the Bulang and Tai tribes, Princess Nanfanlai gave up her royal life in the palace and married a Bulang man named Ba Yanleng. Together, they ushered in a new era for the Bulang society.
Princess Nanfanlai not only taught the Bulang people how to create terraced rice fields but also introduced large-scale tea cultivation techniques. Her influence helped the Bulang people transition from a simple, primitive lifestyle to a more civilized society. The tea culture in the region was shaped by the Bulang people, and Princess Nanfanlai became known as the "Mother of the Tribe" or "Tea Mother."
"Moonlight White" tea was selected by the Bulang people as the finest tea to offer to the royal family. It is celebrated for its purity and nobility, earning the nickname of the "Seven Princess" tea, symbolizing the grace and sanctity of Princess Nanfanlai herself.
Actual colors of the tea may vary somewhat from pictured. Purchase the smallest amount to try before purchasing larger amounts.
