Lao Cha Tou is a classic product exclusively created by TAETEA (Dayi) in 2006, with a history of 18 years. The dry tea is shaped like a corner of a tea brick, with tightly rolled leaves that are dark brown, and under sunlight, you can see the reddish-brown buds glimmering.

Lao Cha Tou is made from tender, small leaves with tightly rolled shapes. After absorbing moisture, the soft inner material has limited airflow. During fermentation, the workers repeatedly toss the tea leaves, allowing pectin to be released, which naturally binds the leaves into clumps. This is what we call Da Yi's  Lao Cha Tou.

When brewed with hot water, the tea produces a rich, intense aroma and flavor. Every sip showcases the superb craftsmanship of Menghai Tea Factory.

Actual colors of the tea may vary somewhat from pictured. Purchase the smallest amount to try before purchasing larger amounts.

Effects and functions of drinking Pu-erh tea

1. Aid digestion and relieve greasiness
Pu-erh tea contains rich tea polyphenols and caffeine, which can stimulate gastric juice secretion and help digestion. In addition, its degreasing properties make it an ideal tea to pair with greasy food, helping to relieve stomach discomfort.

2. Assist in reducing fat and losing weight
The active ingredients in Pu-erh tea can promote fat metabolism. Long-term drinking has a certain effect on lowering cholesterol and triglycerides in the body, so it is favored by many people who want to lose weight.

3. Assist in lowering blood sugar and blood lipids
The tea polysaccharides and fermentation products in Pu-erh tea have a certain effect on regulating blood sugar and lowering blood lipids. It is especially suitable for diabetic patients and people with high blood lipids to drink in moderation.

4. Assist in anti-oxidation and anti-aging
Pu-erh tea contains rich antioxidants, such as tea polyphenols, vitamin C, etc., which can effectively remove free radicals, delay aging, and improve immunity.

5. Assist in antibacterial and anti-inflammatory
The fermentation process of Pu-erh tea produces a large number of beneficial microorganisms. These substances have a certain inhibitory effect on gastrointestinal bacteria, which helps to improve gastrointestinal health and relieve mild inflammation.

6. Helps refresh the mind
The caffeine in Pu-erh tea can stimulate the central nervous system, help improve concentration and relieve fatigue, but the stimulation to the nerves is relatively mild and is not likely to cause palpitations.

7. Helps maintain health and nourish the stomach
Fermented Pu-erh tea is warm in nature, less irritating, and does not hurt the stomach. Moderate drinking has a protective effect on the stomach, especially ripe Pu-erh, which is more suitable for people with weak stomachs.

Important Note:
While tea offers numerous health benefits, it should not replace medications for treating diseases. It is also important to consume it in moderation, as drinking too much strong tea can cause side effects like insomnia or gastrointestinal discomfort. Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and individuals with insomnia should consult a doctor and drink the tea cautiously based on their specific conditions.

I've brewed it every which way I normally brew tea and always got a disappointingly light brew. It wasnt until I accidentally left it in a teapot under a candle for 20 minutes, having gone through three infusions already, that I got an amazing nutty and bready textured thick-like-ink tea. It reminded me a lot of a toasted rye bread. I went through an entire bag thinking it was bad, now realizing that ive wasted 90% of the flavor when i threw the spent leaves thinking they were done. Be patient with hot water and long infusions and you will be surprised.

A really enjoyable ripe tea at an insane price. Brews long due to dense cha tou structure - I like to use a little extra as recommended and break up the nugs a bit for before brewing. Rich and soothing with Date fragrance. Quite a calming tea. I've shared it with caffeine sensitive people who have loved it.

A very nice and a little bitter tea, especcially in flavour. The colour is almost brown-black and a very resilient long infusion tea! Recommended

These are great ... my friends love them as much as I do ... brews forever tastes light and complex at the same time 20 plus steeps definitely worth the price

Smooth, thick, creamy indeed with lovely slight bitterness. I chose to ship on the boat, and 3 months later I am delighted in what has arrived at my shelter in place. A lovely tea and a lovely price. Is there anything on this website that isn't just delightful? I'm coming up with no, so far.
