Aged for 26 years in Kunming dry storage this classic Kunming Tea Factory product is the oldest Ripe Pu-erh we've ever sold. 9016 recipe was first introduced in 1990 (ours offered here is the first batch produced ever). There are many fakes on the market, but this is the real deal and for anyone who has ever tasted aged ripe pu-erh in a dry storage condition will recognize the authenticity and uniqueness of this amazing tea.

When brewing we recommend using the hottest water possible and your best clay teapot (already seasoned for ripe pu-erh). I recommend using 5-6 grams per 100ml. The tea opens slowly and even after several infusions there are still clumps of tea. If you prefer a shorter session with a stronger taste you can carefully break up the tea into smaller pieces.

The taste is strong with a thick oily and pungent taste. There is something that can only be described as an aged taste (陈香) present that reminds me of our 1996 CNNP "Green Mark Te Ji" Ripe Pu-erh tea cake. There is a subdued and very high clarity qi present in this tea that is unique and enjoyable. Overall I find words are lacking to relate the experience of drinking this tea. Some will find this tea to be a necessity after drinking it, others will most certainly enjoy the experience especially with a few repetitions. We are offering 10 and 25 gram sample portions for people to try this incredibly rare and classic tea.

Actual colors of the tea may vary somewhat from pictured. Purchase the smallest amount to try before purchasing larger amounts.

Effects and functions of drinking Pu-erh tea

1. Aid digestion and relieve greasiness
Pu-erh tea contains rich tea polyphenols and caffeine, which can stimulate gastric juice secretion and help digestion. In addition, its degreasing properties make it an ideal tea to pair with greasy food, helping to relieve stomach discomfort.

2. Assist in reducing fat and losing weight
The active ingredients in Pu-erh tea can promote fat metabolism. Long-term drinking has a certain effect on lowering cholesterol and triglycerides in the body, so it is favored by many people who want to lose weight.

3. Assist in lowering blood sugar and blood lipids
The tea polysaccharides and fermentation products in Pu-erh tea have a certain effect on regulating blood sugar and lowering blood lipids. It is especially suitable for diabetic patients and people with high blood lipids to drink in moderation.

4. Assist in anti-oxidation and anti-aging
Pu-erh tea contains rich antioxidants, such as tea polyphenols, vitamin C, etc., which can effectively remove free radicals, delay aging, and improve immunity.

5. Assist in antibacterial and anti-inflammatory
The fermentation process of Pu-erh tea produces a large number of beneficial microorganisms. These substances have a certain inhibitory effect on gastrointestinal bacteria, which helps to improve gastrointestinal health and relieve mild inflammation.

6. Helps refresh the mind
The caffeine in Pu-erh tea can stimulate the central nervous system, help improve concentration and relieve fatigue, but the stimulation to the nerves is relatively mild and is not likely to cause palpitations.

7. Helps maintain health and nourish the stomach
Fermented Pu-erh tea is warm in nature, less irritating, and does not hurt the stomach. Moderate drinking has a protective effect on the stomach, especially ripe Pu-erh, which is more suitable for people with weak stomachs.

Important Note:
While tea offers numerous health benefits, it should not replace medications for treating diseases. It is also important to consume it in moderation, as drinking too much strong tea can cause side effects like insomnia or gastrointestinal discomfort. Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and individuals with insomnia should consult a doctor and drink the tea cautiously based on their specific conditions.

I wash my car once and drink the second glass, and my body sweats pleasantly. It's a refreshing feeling that the table energy of the body is escaping. After eating 25g a few months ago, I ordered 250g this time. When I put it on the scale, it was 229g, so I thought about where 21 went. ^^ I want to order again and eat it.

Great old Shu! This tea is more about feeling than taste for me. Thick and oily, a bit "foresty", and a light fermented taste. A very pleasent and grounded feeling in the body when drinking this.

OMG! If the Israelites had been sent this instead of manna, they would have made it to Israel in half the time! This is a 9.5 out of 10. First, be prepared for a very dense brick that you will have to be patient to tease apart. The first infusion (wash) was light, but subsequent infusions were darker and intensely flavorful. It took 4 infusions before all tea leaves were separated. My 6th infusion was milder, still enjoyable. I ended up ordering a 250gm brick that I will treasure this winter.

I'm not typically a huge fan of older ripes but often find myself picking up smaller samples to find if I can get some of that level of enjoyment others have with it. Usually my feeling is that ripes as old as the 90s and beyond have often lost more than they have gained for my personal tastes in terms of flavour profile and I get much more from the body sensation and energy in the tea than the flavours or the mouthfeel. Lots of mustiness, tannic qualities and a thick body which put together aren't all that pleasant to me, pulling too much towards one direction and lacking balance. Put simply; they're boring. The price here undeniably still ugly for me (but not unreasonable for a tea of this age) but this has an amazing creaminess and sweetness at the back that are just so enjoyable and balance the earthy and wood notes of many ripes this age. There's also a pungency and extremely enjoyable lingering aftertaste with vanilla and dark fruity sweetness. It comes across as so much more youthful than many ripes a decade younger that merely taste like drinking ancient library books. This appears to have only reaped the best elements of age with very clean, light and earthy mushroom notes and woodiness but not in a way that dominates where the tea has started from. I think together with the balance of flavour and pleasantness of the drinking experience really effect the Qi in a way that it comes together in an extremely relaxing experience. Definite feelings of lightheadedness warming, and calm in the body. Humble, balanced and clean.

My absolute favorite ripe of all time. Even comparing to similarly aged teas, this tea goes on and on and on. Very serene cha qi, and surprisingly complex fruity and musty tones layer over each other and the mouth feel is rich, like no other. Or, as my girlfriend likes to say "You've GOT to try this tea! It tastes like dirt! But...in a good way, I swear!"
