THis oolong is soft, smooth, yet rich in flavour. Just an bit more body than the TGY. I love it. And 2021 fall batch tatses even better than the 2020 I had. |

7 grams goes a long way - I shared this with 2 other people and it was an incredible experience all around. Brew this up in a large teapot with plenty of room to allow these magnificent leaves to expand. I used a Tokoname kyusu, one reserved for oolongs of this caliber. The aroma of the dry leaf is vegetal and, at least in the sample I got, there was some subtle herbaceous spice to it. I don't specifically recall this note from years past, but I like it nevertheless. In the cup, this tea explodes with buttery-smooth floral notes. You can expect a full mouthfeel with a persistent aftertaste and a lingering sweetness that coats the whole mouth and throat. It's very hard to over-brew this tea or make it taste bitter. You will definitely feel the cha qi, it is powerful and stimulating, and comes on smoothly without letting off, so if you're trying to get tea drunk then just keep brewing these leaves. There are lots of nuanced flavors to appreciate as this tea changes from cup to cup. You could do as I did and just brew up 3-5 large pots, all of which will be mind-blowingly good, or you could really dive in with a smaller teapot and more focused approach. This would easily go 15+ pots gong-fu style and undoubtedly reveal more nuanced characteristics of its flavor profile. |
