I'm probably not as sophisticated a tea drinker as some of the other reviewers here but I've tried over 10 black teas from Yunnan Sourcing and this remains my favorite overall. Sure, you can spend two or three times more for the higher grad bi luo chun pure bud teas but for an all around tea that can be enjoyed in gong fu style or with milk/cream, this is my all around favorite. I find its flavor to be rich and full with notes of carmel, tobacco, apricot, and malt.

This is an absolutely wonderful tea. In fact, I am reviewing my second Yunnan Sourcing order of this tea. First, as all Yunnan Sourcing teas, the Lu Shan Yun Wu (Cloud and Mist) is a fantastic high quality tea at a very reasonable price Let me be quick to add that this is not what I would call a beginners tea. In other words, if you are just learning Gung-fu brewing this is a more challenging tea. At first, I could not eliminate the astringency no matter what I did. However, I will share how I brew it and assure you that the effort is well worth the award with this tea. Here is how I brewed it: First, I used a Flute Brewer (rather than a Gawain or Tea Pot). The Flute allows much more control with short brews for beginners than a Gawain does. Scott I think it would be very worth your while to stock these flutes they are great for Green Teas and not expensive at all. Next, I did what I called Flash Brewing. That is: I filled the flute 1/3 full. I used 175℉ water. I rinsed the tea for ~10s. I then Flash brewed the tea by feel (~5s each steep until tea weakens). I then increase to ~10s until the tea weakens. Then I began using a timer 15s/20s/……. Also, I found that to avoid astringency- let the tea drain from the flute insert but do not let it drip from the insert once pulled (remember, pour time is steep time and letting the tea drip will increase its brew time and thus astringency). The final result is a light spring-like tea that is at once floral, creamy and yet has undertones of subtle spice (cinnamon, etc.). I highly recommend this tea. It may take a little practice to get the brewing right but the reward is well worth the effort. Another great tea sourced by Scott!

This green tea is a great value and a pleasurable experience to drink. The points made by other reviewers are correct. My first infusion (165 deg F for 15 s) yielded a sweet, fresh, somewhat thick, and light yellow tea that had notes of roasted vegetables. The second and third infusions (20 and 25 s, respectively) became noticeably drier, but the tea did not lose its quality of flavor as the umami character takes over. There is even a spice note that comes after the first infusion - I cannot quite place it, but I know it is a spice I have in my spice cabinet. This tea can also be pushed to higher temperature without becoming overly bitter or astringent. I typically finish it off with near boiling water, which is something I have not been able to do with just every green tea I have had. All in all, this is a great green tea, a great experience drinking, and an affordable value! Definitely worth the larger quantifies available!
