Super comforting tea. Leaves are gorgeous with all the golden hairs and i think it translates to the mouthful. Aroma is sweet bruised fruit in the sun. Will get more when I run out. |

Will order again! Very nice tea, full body, balanced. Flavor is reminiscent of dried fruit and dark honey. Doesn’t have smoky or toasted notes like some others. Beautiful golden buds. A solid Yunnan black! |

This is in my top 5 favorite black teas, for sure. It has a lot going on but also remains subtle and intriguing. The visual qualities are excellent, I love the soft plush buds that are covered in golden bristly hairs. The aroma of the wet leaf is malty rye, maybe some pistachio if rinsed with warm water, and those two certainly come out as flavors in the cup. As the temperature of the water increases and so does the steep time, the flavors open up into something sweeter, I get notes reminiscent of salted caramel, caramelized apricots or pears with a pinch of spice, maybe nutmeg or cinnamon. There are some meadowsweet or jasmine like floral undertones, but they are faint ... for now at least. This tea is complex and very enjoyable to drink. It lasts quite a few steepings and releases its delicious flavor in every ounce brewed. I think this one will age very well, and I'm excited to see how this tea transforms over time. I've had this tea for a couple months now and it seems like the malty notes are being tempered while some floral notes are coming out and becoming more apparent. Same thing with the fruity, apricot-like notes. I love the region this tea comes from and the cultivar used to make it, both are unique and the result is a highly enjoyably and truly memorable experience. |
