The smell of the dried leaves is fantastic. I can't really describe it too well, but I would say that it's fruity. It doesn't really smell too much like any actual fruit, but sort or comes close to a ripe nectarine, in my opinion. The smell carries over and becomes slightly different in the brewed tea (which isn't always the case with a lot of black teas, unfortunately). I'm not going to give any pompous description or tasting notes; all I want to say is that this is one of those teas that taste like they smell. I'm always so disappointed when a tea has a great aroma and the taste is something completely different than what you'd expect while brewing it for the first time... With this one, you know what it'll taste like as soon as you catch the smell of the leaves being soaked in hot water. It's a great buy for the price, in my opinion. |

I have tried many teas, but this managed to surprise me - a lot. I like to compare the taste of it to brown sugar, first brewing tastes almost exactly like you added brown sugar to it. It has an interesting, delicate bitterness, which I'd compare to wet wood. Thanks to this tea, I started to explore more black teas, because I used to prefer delicate teas, like green and white teas. |

I love Yunnan Golds, and this is one of my faves from YS so far. I ordered 500g of the Spring 2018 batch, then ordered another 500g because I like it so much. It's the perfect balance of sweet cocoa notes, malt, earthy redwood forest and a hint of maple syrup. I tried the Autumn harvest which is also good, but the Spring harvest is sweeter and smoother, while the Autumn has more savoury malt notes. They're both fantastic and a great value though! |
