This was my first experience with oolongs so I really didn't know what to expect. It's incredible! Dry leaves are very dark, with a strong but not overpowering aroma that is toasty/fruity with some spicy grassiness. Brewed gong fu style at 7g in 140mL vessel, water just off boiling. 10s rinse, 10s initial steep increasing by 5s each brew. Flavor held strong for 6 or 7 brews. Aroma is very chocolate, red grape skin, dried fruit. Flavor is bold, fruity chocolate, slightly nutty/toasty. Middle-late steeps gradually become a bit more green-tea like with floral/seaweed notes. Little astringency when brewed properly, next to no bitterness. Mouthfeel quite thick. Liquor proceeds from dark to light amber. Leaves are very whole, and dark at first gradually lightening to a light red-brown at the edges and brown-green in the center throughout the brew session. This tea really blew me away with the complexity. I'm barely restraining myself from buying a kg at the moment.

Great Da Hong Pao, vanilla, a bit of smoke, chocolate and some cognac YS Paos are really worth every penny

In the foreground at this tea very tasty fruit taste . Taste of a smoked product the minimum , bitter taste is absent . It is the best "Da Hong Pao" which I drank . I will order again this tea .

Right off the bat, this tea is outstanding! Even the rinse smells fantastic. There is a very good stonefruit/slightly overripe grape flavor. I definitely agree with the noted similarities to wine. Probably thanks to the dry character, the flavor lingers on the tongue long after sipping. It also has a slight cooling effect in the mouth. The dry cup aroma is a bit like honey or maybe honeysuckle or sugarcane, and that flavor sometimes creeps in. Very nice, and a great value.
