Right out of the bag this Da Hong Pao was enjoyable. I am used to having to let some of these roasted rock oolongs mellow for a few months to enjoy them. This one is more lightly roasted than the Shui Jin Gui and Tie Luo Han which I found to have a strong roast taste early in the year (they've since mellowed and are fantastic). Buttery, nutty, spicy and fruity. Good mouthfeel and aroma is out of this world! |

After trying this both the longer brewing style and gongfu style I can say that the tea has a very weak flavor that quickly dies in your mouth with very little depth. The only thing you get is a feeling of having a very dry mouth and is almost bland after the 1-2 pot. |

This tea evokes a pleasant sense of calm and well being for me. It's also friendly to the digestive system: nothing cold/bitter or otherwise harsh in it. A solid, dependable, good cup of tea with special aroma and character |

taste very similar to Rougui. Not as clean taste as higher grades. |
