Right out of the bag this Da Hong Pao was enjoyable. I am used to having to let some of these roasted rock oolongs mellow for a few months to enjoy them. This one is more lightly roasted than the Shui Jin Gui and Tie Luo Han which I found to have a strong roast taste early in the year (they've since mellowed and are fantastic). Buttery, nutty, spicy and fruity. Good mouthfeel and aroma is out of this world!

After trying this both the longer brewing style and gongfu style I can say that the tea has a very weak flavor that quickly dies in your mouth with very little depth. The only thing you get is a feeling of having a very dry mouth and is almost bland after the 1-2 pot.

This tea evokes a pleasant sense of calm and well being for me. It's also friendly to the digestive system: nothing cold/bitter or otherwise harsh in it. A solid, dependable, good cup of tea with special aroma and character

taste very similar to Rougui. Not as clean taste as higher grades.
