Great tasting tea which is suitable for 2/3 infusions. Very good value for money.

It's a bit tricky to brew to a flavor that's desireable to me, but it's definitely possible. The tea always brews up into one of the thickest tea soups i've had, and produces a nice creamy flavor with a hint of malt that reminds me a bit of pure gold dian hongs. The similarities end here as it doesn't contain much bitterness in the main body, but instead a smooth milk-chocolate flavor that progresses into quite the bitter aftertaste. The notes on this tea end with oak and hint of pine, and leave a very mild astringency that contrasts surprisingly well with the creamy body. It's definitely a complex cup of tea, and changing the leaf quantities greatly changes what notes show and which ones do not. The bitterness at the end almost defeats the purpose of having such a creamy base for me. The first couple times i've had it i was greatly unimpressed but as i experimented with brewing, i found out how to bring out the flavors i prefer in this tea and as such i've taken a real liking to it. The only downside it still holds for me is that it doesn't last many steeps, and the creaminess fades and bitterness starts to take over after steeps 2 - 3. With that said, the leaves don't fully become steeped until 5 or 6 for me. If it wasn't $5.50 for 50g, i may have given it three stars instead of 4 - but i feel that the quality of this tea is very good for how much i paid - I'll probably be picking more up in the future.

Stunning quality for the price. Being English, it was Indian style black teas, over extracted, with added milk which was how I fell in love with tea. Now I’ve tried hundreds of different types of tea, yet I have come full circle, and enjoy these kinds of black teas in the morning. This golden monkey is the best I have found, at a price range that makes it a no brainer. The finest Assam from India has nothing on this tea. Smooth yet brisk, with powerful cocoa aromas. Great with boiling water and milk, also good with cooler water in gong fu style.

Excellent black tea! The best taste is revealed in a short infusion, but starting from the third starts a little bitter. If you pour boiling water, pre-wash, and leave for 3-4 seconds, reveals a lot of colors, but it lost astringency and viscosity in the taste. Tea every day. Buy constantly and the best black tea is not found. Yunnan sourcing has produced the best offer and quality.
