I will preface this with a short summary: This tea is exquisite. The dry leaf is a deep charcoal brown with maroon undertones. The leafs aroma is full, thick and complex. It reminds me of roasted butternut squash. The aroma of the first brew is full and buttery and has the same sweet smell of fresh milk. The flavor is full, soft, and round. It too has an almost creamy quality and is marked by a buttery nuttiness very similar to pecans. The flavor of the second brew is similar to the first, but the aroma is slightly more nutty. With subsequent brews the buttery quality transforms into nuttiness and notes of dry cherry. From beginning to end this tea is perfect.

This tea to me is a perfect balance of flavors. The right amount of roast. The purple tea taste is what makes this oolong so much more flavorful than others in this taste range.

The tea flows with the sweet golden essence of honey oozing forth from nature up in a high alpine meadow. Noontime bright as the sun peacefully drifts from east to west where the soul becomes One with the purple glowing sunset, the tea and I. Beautiful, beautiful tea!

Not quite as amazing as the 9 year aged da hong pao, or the fancier grade da hong pao, but a delicious and wonderful tea nonetheless.
