Best tea I've ever had. Mind you, I've only just starting diving into the world of puer tea so my view is quite limited as I haven't tried too many kinds. However this is my favorite so far! |

I quote "cheap" in the title because while it's reflected in the price, it's not in the tea itself. I have some pu-erh of a much higher price that doesn't match this as well as some of a cheaper price that tastes nearly like dirt .. and I don't mean the ripe pu-erh taste but, dirt. I first tried only the tea and could not taste any citrus. Since then I've been crushing up the whole stuffed fruit and mixing it together. It doesn't make the citrus strong by any means but it is noticeable and adds that "special something" to the tea. This tea is pretty much what I'd expect from a ripe pu-erh but for some reason it pulls me back more than any other tea I've got. From short, diluted steeps to long, strong steeps it never disappoints. It does have that classic ripe taste as mentioned. I'm almost afraid to describe it as I'm not always the best at phrasing things so might scare off new folks but it's somewhat musty..? For those new to this sort of tea, if you've ever left cardboard boxes sitting around in a damp basement you'll know the smell. The taste is similar but in a GOOD way. Just like some folks can appreciate the taste of blue cheese or certain fungi. Ripe pu-erh is a unique thing in the tea world but I'm glad I tried it and now I'm hooked. I can say my wife typically drinks nothing but cheap flavored greens/blacks from somewhere else. Cherry this, apple that, so on. Not that they're bad but they have to be flavored and then loaded up with sugar. She always tries my new teas though. I was surprised one day after trying this she decided to sit through a whole session with me. So it worked out for someone that won't even drink plain black or green tea, that should tell you something. This is the tea I recommend when people ask for a good first-time pu-erh. Try it out. Unless you don't like pu-erh, you'll probably enjoy this. From as little as 5g per 100ml steeped at 5 seconds to 20g per 150ml water (accidentally) steeped for 30 minutes, this comes out great no matter what. |

Tasted nice, I liked the tea, not very strong citrus flavor, next time would try adding a larger piece of the fruit. |

Rinsed twice and did a cold brew with a bit of the peel in. Turned out quite nice. Sweet citrus smell and nice earthy puer. |
