This is a fantastic example of Yunnan Dian Hong. Smooth, with mild chocolatey notes, rich in flavor, but not at all astringent or bitter. Other grades of Feng Qing embrace the astringency common to the strain, but I vastly prefer the teas without it, and this Classic 58 nails everything I love in Dian Hong. As a morning tea, it's very easy to brew western style, as it is very forgiving... a bit of oversteeping won't make it too bitter or sour until the leaves are well spent. It's good for four infusions that way, and probably more if prepared gong-fu. |

This is my second favorite Feng Qing black (after the more expensive Feng Qing Gold Tips). Clean taste and high aroma. Good body. I have some from 2017 and 2019 and I prefer the aged one. |

I just received this as part of the Black Tea sampler and am blown away. This is my first foray into high-quality black tea and, as was true with green tea for me, I will never go back. I love the earthiness and woody tones of this one. It is a wide experience that stays with the tongue a satisfyingly long time. |

Malty, floral, sweet, umami, yep, it's all there. How does one pack so much flavor into a tea? Simply rinsing the tea with cool water brings out all kinds of aromas - chocolate, apricot, mushrooms, damp forest floor, pistachio - and the umami, WOW, that is some serious savoriness. The umami is so pungent, so powerful, that it permeates the tea and magnifies the entire taste profile. Everything is elevated - that earthy, mushroom-like flavor, the peachy-sweet apricot skin, that magnificent chocolate liquor, mmm. Yes please. Leaf quality is superb. Attention to detail is very high, and the processing is meticulous. Very impressed with this tea. |
