This was a great purchase. Oddly enough tasted like chocolate bread. Very bold and smooth dessert tea for myself. |

The dry leaves smell like fermented black beans, cocoa nibs, and coffee. The wet leaves turned dark brown, almost black and smelled like old wood, tamarind, and dark chocolate spread. The tea soup is thick, coating and has dark orange, murky brown color. The brew tastes like cocoa, rum, forest berries, and slightly mineral with medicinal bitterness. The empty cup smelled like cocoa. The aftertaste was full of dark chocolate notes and lingering stevia sweetness. I used 5g of leaf in a 100ml gaiwan with boiling water. On average, the sessions lasted for 8 brews. My only problem is the tight pressing, but other than that, It is a tasty tea with a fair quality-price ratio. |

Appropriately named, this tea is mellow with very low bitterness. Dry storage has served this tea well: it’s clean and lacks the dank fermented flavors typical of ripe teas. One rinse and it’s immediately enjoyable. A good tea for new ripe drinkers and those who have been put off by overly dank, barnyard flavors of other ripe teas. |
