This is a delicious Puerh with a very lovely aged character. First thing I notice is an aged aroma that smells like a fresh and damp basement. The tea brew is very hydrating and of medium texture. Dark and rich color. Not at all astringent, not any noticeable bitterness either. By the third infusion or so a very slight lit match stick aroma comes through, and slowly turns into the smell of fireworks in the air on a summery night. By the fourth or 5th infusion a gentle sugary maple syrup nuance comes through and takes me to a log cabin in the American north west as a child, the smell of maple syrup heating on the stove mingles with fresh pine forest air that carries the gentlest unoffensive note of forest campfire with it (don't get the wrong idea, it's incredibly clean) This tea packs a good amount of sessions and infusions in its little compact shape and the gold flecked wrapping it comes in makes it a very alluring treat. I recommend it. |

This is a very nice aged tea. It seems to me that the more I drink it, the more I like it. The wet leaves smell of old, slightly decaying wood in a damp environment, like a castle basement. Reminds me of one ambient & noise music festival called Hradby Samoty, which happens at a castle every year. I also get some chocolate and dried fruit notes coming through. The liquor is fiarly mellow and smooth. It is quite sweet, resembling prunes and cheesecake, but also has cocoa bean bitterness and little bit of mushroom broth, especially in later steeps. I get a slight cooling effect in my throat and the aftertaste is spicy I would say. There is absolutely no astringency, rather the mouthfeel is soft and mouthwatering. I think the price these are selling for is very good and I think I will be getting some more once I finish the ones I have. |

I'm new to pu-erhs, so maybe I'm just not a fan of shous, but I found this tea to not really taste much like the description says. The aroma is quite fishy/musty smelling, I was very put-off at first. The flavour tasted of soil and wood, did not get much sweetness at all, however I did enjoy this tea more after steep 4 or 5. I'm guessing that airing it out will help with the smells that I don't like. |

I've been so impressed with this tea, that I have now bought pounds of it. It's my favorite morning Pu-erh. I even love the gold flecked wrappers it comes in. I also love the instant chi bloom that rises in my body after the first few sips. Yumbo! Frank Hadley Murphy |

This was my 3rd ever experience with pu-erh, & it may have set a high standard. The taste & texture are both superb, but that's not what puts this over the top; after one cup I felt a sense of calm running throughout my body. Further cups deepened the feeling. I was somewhat skeptical of the concept of "cha qi", but golden melon made things clear. Who knew tea could pack so much punch? |
