Lu Shan Yun Wu Green Tea is one of China’s famous green teas, produced in the Lú Shān region of Jiangxi Province. Named "Cloud and Mist Tea" due to the constant mist and clouds enveloping the mountains, this tea grows in a unique climate that greatly influences its distinctive characteristics. It is loved for its refreshing aroma, light taste, and the special environment in which it is cultivated.
Lú Shān is known as the "Mountain of Clouds and Mist" because the area is shrouded in mist year-round. This unique climate provides the ideal growing conditions for tea trees. With a higher elevation, moderate temperatures, high humidity, and large day-to-night temperature variations, the environment helps the tea trees thrive, accumulating more natural nutrients in the process.
The soil in Lú Shān is rich in minerals, and the tea gardens benefit from soil that has excellent permeability, allowing the roots to absorb the nutrients and moisture they need. Additionally, the mist and frequent rainfall in the mountainous region create a fresh and humid environment, helping the tea leaves retain their natural fragrance and flavor.
The harvesting season for Lu Shan Yun Wu Green Tea is typically in the spring, especially around the Qingming Festival, when the tea buds are at their freshest and most tender. Tea leaves are carefully hand-picked, adhering to the strict standard of one bud and one or two leaves to ensure the freshness and quality of the tea. The majority of the tea leaves are picked manually to avoid damage to the delicate buds.
Actual colors of the tea may vary somewhat from pictured. Purchase the smallest amount to try before purchasing larger amounts.
Effects and functions of drinking green tea
1. Assist in anti-oxidation and anti-aging
Green tea is rich in powerful antioxidants such as tea polyphenols (especially catechins), which can effectively remove free radicals in the body and reduce oxidative damage to cells, thereby slowing down the aging process. Drinking green tea regularly can help maintain healthy skin and delay signs of aging.
2. Assist in improving immunity
Green tea contains vitamin C, catechins and flavonoids, which have the effect of enhancing immune function. It can help fight viral and bacterial infections, especially during flu season or when immunity is low.
3. Assist in promoting metabolism and weight loss
The caffeine and catechins in green tea can increase metabolism, increase the rate of fat decomposition, and help the body consume calories more efficiently. In addition, green tea is believed to inhibit the absorption of fat, so it is popular in assisting weight loss.
4. Assist in improving cardiovascular health
Green tea helps lower "bad" cholesterol (LDL) levels and increase "good" cholesterol (HDL) levels, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Tea polyphenols also have anti-inflammatory and protective effects on the lining of blood vessels, which can improve blood circulation.
5. Helps protect brain health
Studies have shown that caffeine and L-theanine in green tea can improve brain functions such as attention, memory and learning ability. Long-term consumption of green tea may also reduce the risk of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
6. Helps regulate blood sugar
Green tea has the effect of lowering blood sugar levels after meals, which is particularly beneficial for the prevention and management of diabetes. It can improve insulin sensitivity and help regulate blood sugar levels.
7. Helps with antibacterial and oral health
The catechins in green tea have antibacterial and antiviral effects, which can help reduce bacteria in the mouth, prevent tooth decay and bad breath. In addition, it can reduce the formation rate of dental plaque and promote gum health.
8. Helps improve digestion and relieve greasiness
The tannic acid in green tea helps promote digestion, especially after eating greasy food, which can help relieve the burden on the stomach. It also has a certain antibacterial effect and can prevent gastrointestinal infections.
9. Help relieve stress and refresh your mind
L-theanine in green tea has a relaxing effect on nerves, which can relieve stress while keeping you awake and focused. Compared to the high caffeine in coffee, green tea can bring a milder and longer-lasting refreshing effect.
Important Note:
While tea offers numerous health benefits, it should not replace medications for treating diseases. It is also important to consume it in moderation, as drinking too much strong tea can cause side effects like insomnia or gastrointestinal discomfort. Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and individuals with insomnia should consult a doctor and drink the tea cautiously based on their specific conditions.
